Got gorgs?
Well the time has come to make a change. I have been considering doing something different with my tank for a while. The beautiful colors and shapes that attracted me to SPS has run its course. I have grown colonies from tiny frags and converted brown-outs to bomb-shells. Lately I have desired corals with more movement and dramatic effect. I still love SPS but their high demands are not in correspondence with my interest level with them at this time so I have decided to make the move to a softy dominated mixed reef. I will likely always have a few SPS but I have already begun parting with my large SPS colonies in preparation of my new direction. It's hard to see them go but I am making sure they are going to a good home. With all of that said I wanted to post the last full tank shot I took of my 65 gallon tank before I started selling the colonies off...

And a few close-ups...

And here are a few that will be staying with me...

Well let's see what the future brings!!

Looks really nice. All good things must come to an end. When you are ready to start trading, I have a really nice Neon Green Nepthea that I can frag for you. Great movement, great color.

Haha

After rereading the title of my thread I don't think it says what I was trying to say

It's kind of funny but kind of stupid too, haha

Very nice tank! I've never seen a fts of your, and it is a shame that it won't continue like that. At the same time, I know where you're coming from. I've had a couple times that i've taken out all my corals and started fresh. I hang on to the ones that I really like, but most of the so-so corals went bye-bye! Good luck in your future endevors, and here's to hopes that I may be able to get some frags from you.

Oh wow Nate! The tank looks Amazing! are you looking to sell whole colonies? would you be interested in a frag of tyree bubble gum monster for some stuff?

:)

I already have a buyer for most of the corals so I don't really have anything to trade. If anything falls through I will let you know...

I know since we both have been discussing our desire to switch to softie dominated tanks due to decreasing the time, energy and expense of maintaining sps dominated systems plus the love of the animation provided by soft corals. Nonetheless, it is sad to see one of my "idol" tanks reassembled. You demonstrated how incredibly gorgeous a 65 gallon sps tank could be not to mention the 150 gallon when that was up and running. And yet I am anxious to see how you develop the softie tank. I will most probably be doing about the same with my 75 gallon tank once I finally get it situated in my new home. Best of luck in your new chapter. BTW way, the pictures look awesome!

Thanks Jerry! The 65 is in the process of becoming a softy tank now. I really like the way it is coming along. I have a new waver maker on order and I can't wait to see how it brings my gorgonians to life. The tank will be dominated by gorgs, rics, and leathers. I am already loving the changes I am making and I have high hopes for what it will become. I know I am in the minority when it comes to my love of gorgonians but there is just something simple and beautiful about the way they look to me. I have a very nice collection of gorgs started and it is very surprising the number of photosynthetic varieties you can find if you look hard enough. I hope to have some photos in a month or so. Stay tuned :)

I am also looking forward to watching the next incantation of your tank. I've been leaning toward keeping my tank more toward softies and preditory corals as well.

Well all of the SPS have been sold and shipped as of last night. The reorg and restock is underway I am looking forward to seeing what I can do with this new direction. I kept a few SPS colonies and a few frags for myself so it won't be all softies and gorgs but it will largly dominated by softies and gorgs. My wife doesn't really like it but I think she will come around in time. I hope to have some pictures to share in the next few weeks so look for a new thread soon :)
