Take that zoa eating amphipods

I'm so excited. I have had zoa colonies dissolving before my eyes while others thrived. I thought the amphipods I saw on them were just eating the dying polyps but then I read that they may be the cause. Then my savior arrived when I finally moved my yellow coris wrasse from the quarantine to the main tank. 24 hours later every single polyp in my tank is open and I see zilcho amphipods climbing on my zoas. Hooray yellow coris wrasse. Sorry had to share my excitement with someone...LOL

Can you describe exactly what you saw in details? Was it a few, a whole gang of pods? Was it continuous? At what rate did they destroy them? Were the polyps sick with a fungus or BI ? Was it during daylight or darkness? Anything you can share, I'm interested in hearing. Thanks a lot.

Yes I too would like to know more about this. Several months ago I had small colonies disappear virtually overnight in one tank only. Other Zoas or Palys would be left alone. I looked for crabs or some other preditor to no avail. Perhaps amphipods where to blame? I have begun moving Zoa frags back into this tank and so for so good. Additional details of your experience would be appreciated!

I noticed the amphipods in groups on closed up colonies. I only saw them during the day but I never looked at night. It seems like they moved to a colony and destroyed it and then moved onto the next. Basically I would just noticed closed colonies that would have the pods on them and would waste away after a couple of days. Since the wrasse went in I have not had any issues with closed polyps so I am 99% sure the pods were the cause of decline. I have had more issues fighting pests from my Florida live rock I started the tank with. Majono anemones, blood sucking isopods, zoa eating amphipods...oh my.
