Taking coral on flight?

I'm going to Orlando in two weeks and plan to stop at a fish store on the way to the airport on my return flight from Florida to Milwaukee. I want to purchase some coral while in the state but am not sure what store to stop at our exactly how to bring the coral on the plane with me. Flight is 2 hours total. Any tips?

I think we can bring small amounts of liquid, but depending on the coral, I think you can just wrap it in wet newspaper.....

Well im assuming I could put the coral in enclosed styraphome box and put it in my under luggage but I hear it gets cooled. I don't think I can do carry on tho.

Checked Lugagge in a cooler works great for me each time I fly. Still I would check the regulations on traveling with corals especially in areas where they have coral reefs. Sometimes it's only allowed to have corals on plastic or Cement plugs proving that the coral was not taken out from the sea... always stressful at checkin. I usually only travel with frags when in the states but I've flied with colonies from Germany, Spain, vienna, Holland... and never had issues, Well except with the wife when one of the bag ruptures in my Luggage with clothes in.

A friend of mine transports corals frags, in a small lunch cooler, as a carry on. He's been doing this for several years, informing TSA every time, of the contents. Frags are bagged, with minimal water (2oz) per bag. TSA has never given him any issues at all.

I was curious about this as well. My cousin is going to Hawaii next month and I planned on having him grab me a few corals.

Hawaii has their own set of regulations, even on departures, so you'll need to check that one out closely

New problem... Plane leaves at 6 am sat. I would have to buy the coral fri night and have it in a bag for roughly 24 hours. Will I still be ok? Or should I ship it home do when I get home the package is at my door?

you can have reef tanks with coral in hawii now they lifted the ban

When did this happen? As of late last year, you could still only have softies and polyps (yes I know they are corals, but that is not what people are referring to.) Anyway, I can't seem to find any info on lifting the ban and would be very surprised if they did considering their protective track record.
