Taking it down...

I have had a 90 gallon reef tank for a little over 2 years and had great success with it, until it got infected with dino-flagellates... It had a lot of coral, and looked extremely nice with the fish, but now most of the coral is to the point of no return, and what is good, i have vacated to another tank which hospitaled the corals until they are where they are now. I have decided to take everything out of the tank, and re-do it from scratch. I have 1 single fish still in the tank, as the others have died from ich/heater malfunction. I know how I am going to catch the fish, and where it will be moved, but my concerns are what do I do with all the snails that are still in the tank? I hate to kill them, but I have nowhere else to put them. Suggestions? Also I have some before/after pictures.
Sorry if the pictures do not work!

Couldn't the snails go wherever you're putting the fish?
A large rubbermaid bucket with a couple of airstones and some nori would be a good holding tank for the snails, and it would also be good for holding any critters (micro-brittles, etc) you want to hang onto.

Giving the single fish to my grandma as a final filler fish for her tank, which is a melanarus wrasse. I could do that with the snails, but I'm not sure where I would put the tub, as the tank re-do is going to take a few weeks because I am in school. I'm 15 and a sophmore in high school, so hard to find a ton of time during the re-do. I'm also drying out the rock completely and reusing it.

And with some of the snail, I am keeping for my small 20 gallon tank, as its low, and a few to my grandma also, but i'd still have a bunch left over

Maybe a LFS near you would take them? Or you could ask around if any reefers near you would like some free snails.
How many are you trying to get rid of?

The only LFS closed down about a year ago, nearest one is an hour away, and probably a good 20 - 40 snails... Just a rough estimate

As others suggest, I would put them in a 5 gallon bucket with an airstone, a couple pieces of rock and a heater next to the tank you are redoing. Drop some pellets or nori in sometimes and top up for evaporation. They should be fine and not take up much space.
