You need to reverse the magnifying glass. ;)
 
I was just kidding. It seemed if it was demagnifying, then you'd need to flip it. :D

Maybe like you mentioned, your camera is compensating for the magnifying glass. I've only tried this with the Kodak easyshare camera that I have so I'm not sure which cameras it will work with.

Also, how close are you putting the camera to the magnifying glass? Sometimes it takes a little experimenting to get a good picture. I sometimes will have the camera 4-5 inches away from the magnifying glass and then use the zoom from the camera to get some of the shots.
 
Tried all different distances and it always seems to compensate.
I am pretty sure that the camera is doing some sort of compensation because if I hold the focus and then remove the Mag the picture ends up totaly blurry.
