I'm in no hurry for the fish. I was really missing the activity in the tank at first, but now that I'm totally immersed in exams I am appreciating not having to feed fish 2x a day. I just feed my corals before bed time. 
The educational adventure is hectic and I can't wait to finish! I am technically a "Junior," have my AAS degree in Biotechnology and hopefully I can load up on classes during intersessions and be a BS, too! :lol: I'm going to look into the Master's program and what it involves and what the benefits of it will be in the job-field. I wouldn't mind getting my BS, a job, and then working on my Master's, perhaps with my new job? A friend of mine has a connection he promises to check out with a local company for an analyst position.

Plus a lot of jobs offer TA for degrees and that should help pay the bills! Loving those frags, I thought the frag ID was a favia?

Frogspawn and Hammer Then and Now
The lowest frogspawn is a bit cheezed off from the flow hitting it, so it isn't fully extended. The one above it is the frogspawn on the right in the "before" picture and has REALLY taken off!
And of course, the Duncans.
There are probably 20+ heads on this now, but it is growing more like a bush than a tree, if that makes any sense? There aren't any branches long enough that I would feel comfortable fragging.

Thanks for asking! I finished this semester with a 4.0!! It's my first 4.0 semester, ever. I even got a 100% on my Calculus final! :eek2:
I have been really considering breaking down the tank and selling off the corals and equipment until I finish school...
I have really not been being as attentive to it as I used to be since I've devoted so much effort to school.Two days ago I did a major clean up in the tank. I was very overdue for a water change, but I haven't had any fish in the tank so I figured I could skirt the hassle for longer than I used to. I pulled out the Koralia's one by one and cleaned them. They looked like Christmas trees! I have also been battling some of that "cotton candy" algae that has appeared from nowhere on my green and red people eater rock. It grows out from between the polyps and then bushes out like wads of pink cotton. I pull off as much as I can, but can't scrub it off without damaging the people eater palys.
My Duncan's still look fabulous, the clam is still happy and growing on its perch. The Dendros are also growing slowly. My bam bam zoas are out of control!
After cleaning out the tank and doing a two-salt-bucket water change, the tank is looking better. I was feeling more positive about the tank, so I decided to hold on to it and give it another chance. Hopefully I will stay committed to it. I'm feeling re-energized. Yesterday on the way home from work I stopped by the LFS and picked up three female Lyretail Anthias. Overnight one of the females is already sporting a spike on its dorsal fin!
I'm really frustrated with the Fire & Ice War Coral... it is bleaching a lot and I can't find a happy place for it in the tank. The areas of the coral that are near the sand are still deep pink, but the rest of it is very bleached, only the lime green mouths still look normal. Today I was feeding the coral and shoved it under a rock. I can't believe that 4xT5's can bleach a coral on the sand bed! It's ridiculous. There must be something else going on?

4 T5's bleached a favia I had back in the old 20 gallon tank until I moved it to the sandbed. Once I did that it put out feeding tentacles nightly and was "happy as a clam"
I think Favias just don't like T5s because the light comes from all directions as opposed to a point source. If its a MH point source they can change their pigmentation in the one area to block the light and the rest of the coral can still flourish.

I have had troubles with favia also, wanting nothing but the shadiest part of the tank
