Talk about quick return on my investment.

Well just got back from a 5 day trip in TX and what do I find when I got back? My Chiller fuse went out and looks like my tank went without a chiller for the last few days. Talk about bad timing, it looks like the last few days have been hot in CA; just when I decided to take a trip. I spent about $600 on a Aqua Controller Jr. just 6 weeks ago which basically saved the entire tank!!! The controller is set to turn off lighting a any other unnecessary power heads once temp hits 83. The chiller is supposed to kick on at 81 keeping the temp below 81 at all time. Keep in mind that my tank is in-wall and does not have any vents other then two small fans which I installed just before I left. So my tank in general gets very hot!!!! In the winter when ambient temperature is in the low 40s at night my tank is at 75 without a heater. Imagine 500watt of MH inside a closed box!!!! The tank would have been nuked within 2hours!!!! The only other thing I see wrong with the tank is a small algae bloom on the sand bed. The skimmer overflowed while I was away so basically no skimming for the last 5 days, no big deal. Anyway I have a 6 day fishing trip this coming weekend :D wish me luck.

You aint kidding!
I was out of the country for an entire month, and my aquacontroller performed FLAWLESSLY! Nothing went wrong the entire time. Though I did have Sharkdude checking on the tank periodically, basically all he had to do was change out my filter sock from time-to-time

I was even able to monitor the tank daily via internet and see all the tank perameters in real time. The only discrepancy one day was when I saw my salinity was a bit low.....I called on a cell phone from France and asked my wife to wiggle the conductivity probe a little (just an air bubble trapped underneith causing a false reading) and that was it!

But hey,
I don't remember what city you are in, but if you are near Garden Grove, I don't mind checking on your tank for you a couple times when you are gone. If not close to me, then I'm sure there is someone else who could do the same. That's what this community is all about!

Hey thanks for the offer....... but I do have a good friend check on the tank for me while I'm away but since the chiller is on the controller he wouldn't know that the chiller wasn't working.

Funny that you mention this. I just picked up an DC4HD to program the same feature for my upcoming vacation.

ever find out why the chiller fuse blew? I owed reputable chillers since i got into reefing and never had a issue as such, mainly aqualogic, aquanetics and a few other. What brand chiller?

no idea, the chiller is only 10months old and this is the first time it blew. I wonder if the aqua controller has anything to do with it.
