okay so I got a bubble tip anemone the other day at the lfs , he was under fluorescent lamps and I have leds. he was fine the first couple days and then he moved out all the way to the sand and went to a cave . when the lights are off he's big and beautiful, when the lights come on he shrinks up and gapes his mouth? all my water levels are great, and my tank is 10 months old. is he just getting use to the light,? do they all act funny the first week or 2 in a tank? what did yours do the first week or 2 in your tank? any thoughts would be appreciated. salinity 1.025, p h 8.1, nitrates 1.5 ppm, phosphates 0, calcium 460 , alkalinity 4 Mg/l

He's adjusting to your lights, give him time!! Provide him some food at night once every 10 days or so until he gets out into the light and he should be fine!

I have never been successful with RBTAs, they always seem to just rot away over time in my tank. A few got sucked into the overflow even. I have had much better luck with condylactis anemones, even though they have been known to be harder to keep. Your params look good, do you have any larger fish or crabs that could be attacking it? I know red leg hermits eats condys in the wild, I am not sure if any eat BTAs.

I have a couple big blue leg crabs, and I know of 3 monster bristle worms, at least 12 inches long,. do peppermint shrimp mess with them I see 1 hanging out by him

Shrimp hang out with anemones to steal the food they collect, my fireshrimp stays very close and even harasses my nem from time to time, I simply feed the shrimp before I feed the nem..

I wouldn't feed it yet. Let it settle. If your conditions are optimum it will find its spot out in the light. You can do more harm than good by feeding it while its stressed. It will more than likely split. Patience is the key. Once they settle they are very hardy as far as nems go. Good luck

it's just settling in. watch it for a week and report back. you could try dusting it with mysis if the mouth is still open after a week.
