Tampa Bay Saltwater experience

Let me start by saying what a great experience I had with Richard from TBS. His knowledge and concern for the industry is only overshadowed by the quality of the product he ships.

I had not been in the hobby for over 30 years and was overwhelmed by how much it had advanced. The amount of the information online, the amount of the suppliers and all the various opinions was causing me much distrust. I had scoured the web and the various boards for what to do to get started and who to get my live rock from. I settled in on 2 of the more popular ones and attempted to order from them. The difficulty I had speaking to someone and the pushiness I experienced was almost enough for me to quit when I stumbled upon TBS. I called and emailed and within a few hours I had an email back from Richard (I don't think his cell works underwater yet).

I explained my situation to Richard and he succintly said "order the package". For some reason I pulled the trigger and said ok. My order arrived at my local airport a couple days later and I followed the directions he provided to a "T". Seven days later my tank had completely cycled. Everyday I went to work to see the progress, I saw more and more of the life that was in the rock and sand he shipped. It was incredible. I could have stopped there and been completely satisfied.

Richard checked in on my progress pretty regularly and coached me through the process. Actually I didn't need to do too much, just watch and wait.

Package "two" arrived and I was completely blown away by what was included. No amount of testimonials could have prepared me for the extent of what he included with my shipment. Shrimp, snails, cucumbers, sponges of all kinds, coral, starfish, crabs, more live rock with clams, coral and lots of other hitchhikers (nothing bad for me other than some welk snails).

I felt like a child on Christmas Day. The quality and quantity of package two was more than I probably deserved, unbelievable. He sets the bar so high, no other company would try to match it.

I have included some pictures of my aquascaping. It's been over 30 years so go easy guys. I can't wait to see what else shows itself of the next few months.

My LFS owner was over today to set me up with an apex controller and he was seriously jealous when he saw the quality of the stock in my tank. He asked for the contact information for TBS. Richard may well soon have another place to sell his product.

If you have any concerns about ordering from TBS, do not hesitate. It's not likely you will be as hard to please as I am.

I also have to say how great Richard and Tampa Bay Saltwater is. I've been without a reef for a few years and since moving to Tucson I've started another. A week ago I received the first part of the package and some of the hitchhikers that came to Tucson was a couple cup corals, feather dusters, an awesome cucumber, gorilla crabs, snails, a fantastic pistol shrimp, sponges, and some shrimp. I've read in different forums how good TBS was but now that I've experienced it myself I have to say that I'm amazed at the amount of life that came with my live rock. It seems like every day my kids find something new coming from the rock. Next week I'll receive part 2 of the package and I'm very excited to see what comes next.
