Tang Compatibility!

"Possible" is not, and has never been, the point. Ever.

And that tank, as has been explained, is an exception in many ways. Aquarist, term, and content.

This isn't that hard. But hardheads will not be convinced of anything other than their false opinions and seeking for exceptions to blow the bottom out of accepted minimums, etc.

here is a thread i did about a hippo, few commented!!!

http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2562173

here are "accepted minumums"?

RC: 240 gallon, 8'
LA/DD: 180 gallon
Scott Micheal: 100 gallon
Blue Zoo: 75 gallon
CHSUB: 92 gallon, IME

hard to find a consensus?

does it???? some here apply human emotions like happiness and sadness to fish, why not freedom???? would it matter how big your house is in North Korea?

Ask your hepatus...

All the more reason for bigger tanks, not smaller.

Yes, a bigger house in North Korea would be better than a smaller house. But this isn't a valid argument framework. Nobody is arguing about the fish being in captivity (North Korea) versus the ocean (a free country). It's more like a 3x3x6 solitary confinement jail cell loaded with inmates versus a small family in a big house. You need better and more applicable analogies.

I have no issues with those who argue for bigger minimums. And the real issue is "standard" guidelines versus exceptions. Too many want to always be the exception and self-determine every standard.

It's safe to say, then, that the minimum is at least 75g. A better solution would be to determine each source's criteria for their recommended minimums and at least average them.

Why strive to always reach up to the bottom?

OUCH!!!!!! we come for different worlds, above everything is my freedom, i can deal with many hardships, but not my lack of freedom..... "Live free or Die". (New Hampshire)

boy did this get off track!!!:lmao:

But we're not talking about North Korea versus America. We're talking about two situations in North Korea.

And, as I suggested, the difference is an overcrowded tiny jail cell versus a large house... all in North Korea. Huge difference.

If it is so "cruel" then why isn't PETA on this?

Many groups are doing all they can to get the aquarium trade shut down, so you may get your wish.

But go ahead and reach up for the bottom and keep fish in the smallest tanks you possibly can, since you can't listen to reason.

The above sensible examples should inform the irrational. Should.

I never hear any of the established, published, respected, long-time aquarists advocating for smaller tanks, especially for certain species.

It's not a wish . There is no right and wrong in this hobby . If it can thrive in a tank then let it be .

Absurd. And all based on a nebulous perceived definition of "thrive".

I recommend grouper in shot glasses for you.
look here. This is America. Home of I put whatever I want in my tank. It is a tang for crying out loud. There are exceptions in this hobby.

Just be responsible, and don't let the "Tang police" get you down. Those touting to know the most or best, probably just heard that info last week anyways. Tang personalities are kind of like dogs as far as coolness, and territorial behavior, but still like a box of chocolates.

i disagree, but i'm laughing!!!!:lolspin:

And you have the right to disagree , I'm just talking from my personal experience I have a yellow in a 75 and have had him for about 2 years . Doing great I'm not saying all tangs are suited for a 75

imo, most would not argue about a 75 and a yellow tang. i might however, because i'm trying to kill time while at work!!!:headwally:

Look here. Exceptions are not the standard.

Yes, of course you can put whatever you want in your tank. It just can't always be validly justified, which is what many are doing.

Freedom is the power and privilege to do what one ought.

I see the tang police's valid point that there are minimum standards that can never be changed by exceptions.

The OP isn't about you and your tank/tang, though.

This thread is about a Hepatus in a 75g and then adding a yellow. Not sensible or reasonable. If you think so, you have every right to be wrong.
