Anyone ever had a Tang dig a hole? My wife just told me the purple tank has dug a massive hole in the corner of my tank. Strange???!!!

Weird things Fish do usually have something to do with mating, Like maybe laying eggs? That would be great If that was what It Is mimicking. Or It's digging It's own grave!

thanks guys. ive had this fish for 4 years or so and never seen this bahavior. mating? doubt it. tank mates are too strange!

No Did not say It was mating, But that the strange behaviour usually has something to do with mating! The fish may be acting out to attract a mate by his strange behaviour.
I remember the first time i saw a pair of clowns going up and down like they were nuts for hours on end, then they laid eggs!

FYI on the Species. this is for a Yellow tang.

Zebrasoma flavescens can spawn in groups or in pairs. When in groups, females release eggs and males release sperm into open water where fertilization occurs. When in pairs, the male courts a female by changing colors and exhibiting a shimmering movement. The two fish then swim upward and simultaneously release their eggs or sperm into the water. Males may spawn with multiple females in one session, while females typically spawn only once a month.
