Tang not eating mysis?

Zach Vs Ponies

I currently have a purple tang in quarantine, and a few days ago I posted that he wasn't eating. Well, he is now eating but he will only eat flake foods and nori, he bites mysis but spits it out.

I was wondering if he just isn't interested, or does that point to another problem with him? Again, he's eating nori and formula two flake food. As a matter of a fact, he's eating a LOT of nori (I have to replace the nori off of the clip every day). The mysis are soaked in selcon normally, and garlic on other days.

Thanks for any assistance.

He is a herbivore, I wouldn't worry about him eating meaty foods at this point. Perhaps soak some nori with supplements/vitamins if you are concerned about his diet. A small piece of nori soaked in selcon or garlic and offered as his first meal of the day even sounds appetizing to me. :)

Try not soaking the mysis. He's taking flakes, so it sounds like its not an issue of not recognizing food in the water column as food. Try enriched brine or shredded shrimp (freeze a cocktail shrimp, run it over a cheese grater).

I would try feeding live brine shrimp soaked with garlic first, my Alantic tang did the same thing. But after feeding him live brine shrimp soaked in garlic, he goes crazy for frozen brine/mysis shrimp.
