Tang problem

So, I got up this morning at 5 am and had to feed the fish before I left to be gone for a day. I noticed that when I turned on the light that one of the yellow tangs had lost its bright yellow tint on the front part of its body and is pale yellow to white in color.

Anything to be concerned about? The other tang looks normal in color. Both seem normally active in the tank

The yellow tangs can look VERY pale when in night mode...and you'll see a nice white line across it's body. I'd suggest putting the lights on timer (if not done already) as this just makes life SO much easier. Also, blasting the lights on all of a sudden at 5 a.m. to eat isn't really ideal either. It would be like someone turning your bedroom light on at 3 a.m. and telling you to come eat, it's dinner time. lol

I could handle that as long as it is a fat steak.:lmao:

I would also look into an auto feeder. I don't like worrying about feeding my fish in the morning, or in the afternoon because of work. I just have the auto feeder feed pellets. This is the best one I've ever used http://www.super-feed.com/. It works very well for large 3mm pellets but may not be the best for the small pellets (I've never tried them though).

Fish do best if they can set their biological clock with a light timer. Yes, many fish, including tangs, triggers, and butterfly fish have night colors.

LOL

I was thinking the same thing. But then I thought that I would rather have that then not eating for a full couple of days. I was doing it for the clown fish. As I understand it, the tangs appear to eat algae off the rocks.
