Tang Question and Water Quality Issue

I purchased a Powder Brown Tang about 4 days ago and I purchased a Clown Tang today. The Powder is chasing around the Clown. The guy I bought it from said there will be some posturing at least in the beginning. Now I know my tank is PLENTY big enough for both to have a territory of their own. I have a 125 gal and other than a coris wrasse are the only fish in the tank. Is there anything i can do to maybe make the transition easier for both or is this pretty normal? Also I was getting water from a friend whos ro filter burst and turns out i was almost getting tap. My two shrimp seem ok but i am battling a wicked al.gae problem. I have tried everything. Water changes, cheato (which is growing like mad), cutting light time by two hrs, to trying different types of cleanup crew to inverts and fish. Phosphates are negligible but i assume due to macro growth, nitrates are 15 but coming down. I am also running gfo which seems to be helping some. Its this long tan fluffy looking algea. I'm at wits end on this. My corals are paying a heavy price and loosing them quite regularly. I need help

Your tank is big enough for one of those tangs. The pb might never stop. A non acanthurus tang would have been a better choice. Powder browns can be extremely aggressive.

You need to be using 0tds di water when you do your water changes. Suck as much algae as you can out of the tank with a tube when you do your water changes. Reduce feeding to every other day. Change your gfo more frequently. stop adding livestock till you can get a handle on the water quality and algae.

Both fish a very small at the moment and have it arranged for them both to be donated to the local aquarium when they get too big. Could i rearrange rock work? Disturb his territory a little?

I wouldnt rearrange the rock, that may cause the brown to hurt himself. IE, he knows where all the corners and cuts are and swims fast.

I would try getting some egg crate and splitting the tank with it, one fish on one side and the other on the other side untill they figure out how to play nice

how about this 1 , i wanted to put in to my 92 gallon corner tank a hippo tank is it possible that my yellow with fight if they are in the tank together ?

Hippo tangs get huge. They will work in a 90 for a few years but eventually they will outgrow it.

A kole tang would be a better choice. There are a few others that stay smaller.

Odds are your yellow will go after any other tang you put in but they tend not to take it to the extremes that the acanthurus tangs do and will eventually get over it.
