Tang question

I have a 150g reef tank and was hoping to add a yellow, purple, and powder blue tang as the final 3 fish. My LFS has said that as long as I add them together, there wouldn't be a problem. I want to know if anyone else has any experience trying to get these to coexist is a similar size tank. Or if I should avoid the situation all together.

If there is any risk though, I would probably just get the purple and powder blue.

Current inhabitants include 3 green chromis, 3 Kaudern's Cardinalfish, 1 lawn mower Bennie, 1 randalls goby, 1 Ocellaris Clownfish.

Thanks for your suggestions!

After reading some other threads I believe that having a yellow and purple in the same tank is not going to work out. I will decide on one or the other.

Can a powder blue be kept with a yellow or purple tang if introduced together? Down the road, should I expect issues with these fish?

Most of my current fish are pretty small, so I would like to have a couple larger fish for the tank. Suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks!

They need to have different body types. You should only have one from the same genus. The purple and Yellow are both genus zebrasoma. Powder blue is Acanthurus and should be OK with the Yellow or Purple Tang.

If you add the yellow and the purple together being similar sized should work out fine. I had 2 purple tangs in my 180g years ago added together and the same size and they lived together for 6 years with no problems

I love both tangs and always have Yellow and Purple tangs together. Even in a 90 gal tank, they were fine together. Purple tang is more aggressive than Yellow tang so it is better if you have a larger Yellow. Purple tang will eventually grow to be larger than Yellow tang.
