I have a well established 4ft DD 200 gallon mixed reef currently. I have a yellow, salfin, naso and hippo tang all med size and all get along great. I am considering adding 1 more Orange shoulder, Unicorn or even a Achilles Tang Open to thoughts and suggestions

Going to have to agree, but mostly because the tank is a 4ft. If you MUST add another tang (which I wouldn't recommend), the orange shoulder is the best fit. Unicorns and Achilles tangs simply need too much swimming room to be happy long-term in your tank.

I saw the tang chart posted. While I do see the benefits of a long 6 ft tank. It has been my experience that my fish have done best in this 4ft 200 and my old 4 ft. 150 I cant go back to a narrow tank. I would love to do a 6 ft 600 gallon but just don't like the tanks without the 30 plus front to back dimension. Would love to do an Achellis but the Orange shoulder seems to be my first choice when thinking logically.

Also I am open to opinions, I would love to hear exactly why anyone would think I should remove fish. All fish seem to be doing great and I have the equipment to take care of the system. if there is something I don't know please educate me.

The Naso you have now will likely get the biggest and needs the most room of what you have now. The concern is when the fish gets over a foot long then it doesn't have much length to swim in a straight line. These are very active fish if you've seen them in the ocean and generally like a lot of room. An 8' tank IMO would be better for this fish. The Unicorn gets massively huge and shouldn't be anything but the largest tanks. The Achilles you could try but again a very active fish and likes long tanks. These fish also stress very easily and are difficult so I would leave this one out as well. The Orange Shoulder is definitely the best choice of what you have listed.

If everything is getting along and doesn't seem too twitchy or anything then by all means don't remove anything. If seems to get a bit crowded in there the Naso is the one I would remove first. Just remember that a big Naso is hard to find a good home for.

my naso uses every inch of my 7 foot 210. I cant wait to upgrade, i personally wouldnt add any more tangs to your tank.

Do you know how big those fish you're considering get? Have you ever seen a full grown orange shoulder or unicorn? They would not only be unable to thrive in a 4 foot tank, they would simply look absurd. The dimensions of your tank are much better suited to a whole bunch of 3-6" fish which would look amazing.

Can you post a vid of your tank? I'll be the first to admit that there was one time that I chose my tank based on what I liked as you mentioned above, but we should really plan our tanks based on what will be comfortable for our fish. They are the ones that have to spend 24/7 in there, not us...

Not bashing you, or anything, because your tank is beautiful, and the fish look healthy, but tangs are swimmers, not floaters like the marine betta. I have a 55 and 75 that I use for QT and HT when needed. I feel guilty right now watching my new PBT pace back and forth aimlessly in those 4 foot tanks. The gallon guides that we use to go by before we purchase livestock are a good rule of thumb, but honestly the way that the tank is made carries allot of priority as well. I'm upgrading to a 6 ft 225g right now, from my 5 ft 120g to support the size of my growing livestock. My yellow tank is only 4 inches long, and darts back and forth quickly, so I can only imagine how it'll be when he gets larger. Even with my 225g, there are certain fish I won't buy because of my limitations.

Best of luck with your tank...

I don't feel bashed at all and would love to do a video give me some time to figure out how and I see the point in what everyone is saying.....my next question is how long would it take for an orange shoulder to go from juvenile to adult? It is possible I could go bigger someday I would like to do a 6 ft 300, but I do agree its not fair to put these animals in bad situations.

Great. I'd love to see a video. Very mature of you to see the advice in our words and not be offended. I've definitely received my share of it. Lol.

Not sure of the growth rate of an orange shoulder. Hopefully someone with some direct experience will chime in.
