tang trouble!

I've definitely heard about these tangs eating zoas before. Now that hes got a taste for them he probably wont stop :(

Tangs are frequently kept in reef tanks. Tangs are algae eaters. Not coral eaters. +1 to the algae thing. Is the tang actually eating them or taking pieces of them? You should add more algae for it.

While I have never had this problem, I also have heard this is somewhat common with Blue (I assume you mean Hippo) Tangs.

My Naso likes to pick at corals every once in a while, and I had a friend who had a purple tang that took a taste to zoas after he reduced his feeding. How often do you feed?

The OP's tank has an ich outbreak so I hope he's feeding enough to keep the fish healthy...but underfeeding would be a reason fish pick at corals. Unless like already mentioned, there is some food stuck in between some zoo's.

Hippos are just about the only tang that will, but are considered to be omnivorious. My blue hippos destoy kenya trees, xenia and anthelia.

feed it more, and it will stop

once the fish knows EVERYDAY, at certain time, food will come, FOR SURE, it will calm down and not be so eager to find food all day and to eat.
this is how they train sharks not to eat smaller tank mates in public aquariums, look at dubai shark tank int he mall !
