Tangs and Feather Dusters

I had a Hippo that would voraciously root out and kill any feather duster I tried to put in my tank. The tang died this last year--RIP, I miss you buddy (he thumped the glass when he wanted more food or "his" power head turned on)--and I was thinking of trying some dusters again, BUT I will have tangs agin, soon, probably a Hippo, Chevron, Achillies and maybe Chocolate....

What is everyone's experience with Tangs (and dwarf angels for that matter) and aggression towards Dusters?

i keep mostly tangs in my tank and i never had any problems with them and feather dusters. it sounds as tho your hippo had an interesting personality so i wouldnt worry about it

My yellow has never bothered mine but I have heard of the occasional tang destroying crowns before.

you win some you loose some, from what i know, most tangs will just pick at stuff because of curiosity, now what it could of been is that your tang had a taste for them, chanches are if you had the duster before the tang and than later added the tangs some might pick on it some might not, but if it was the other way around, having the tangs first and than adding the duster at a later time your chanches are more greater that curiosity will get the best of them

My hippo, purple, and sailfin don't seem to have noticed my 2 large feather-dusters or my coco worms. Nor have my angels, but my copperbanded butterfly took out a couple of purple and gold coco worms and bothered the dusters when they were new.

my 180g setup has a few hundred, heck maybe even a thousand of the small feather dusters all over the place, I've also had several of the giant Hawaiian ones in the past, other then picking at the algae that grows between the small ones when they grow in huge masses my tangs (Achilles/Purple/Yellow/Naso/Sailfin) have never disturbed the dusters.

I had a blue tang once the one before the one that i got now that used to pick up my sps frags and every once in a while even a crab or two and play bombs away with them but that is the only one that i have ever had a problem with
