Tangs and Snails

Do tangs & snails compete for food? I ask because I have some snails in my tank that are wiping out any Algae I have and I see there are many species of tangs that like to eat algae.

So before I buy a tang for my tank should I consider removing some of the snails?

For those that are going to ask, my tank is 75g, and I am looking at smaller tangs.

Leave the snails in. Just feed your tang nori and other types of meaty food. My tangs eat pe mysis and rod's food.

Stick with the Ctenochaetus genus if you're going to add a tang to your 75, and feed it algae sheets. You shouldnt have much trouble with it and the snails.

Tangs are monsters. herbivores my butt. They eat everything. If anything the tang is robbing your snails of food.

Throw some nori or dried seaweed in there as a treat under a rock, rubber banded to small piece of pvc, or a algae clip if you're worried.
