Tangs in 75 gallon

I wanted to get everyones opinion on tangs in a 75 gallon reef tank. I have read that you can put yellow tangs and a few others in a tank that size and I have read that you cant.

What has been your experience with tangs in a tank this size? What tangs would you recommend for a tank this size?

A tomini tang would be able to live it's life in a 75g and maybe a few other bristletooth tangs, but not in the same tank. Anything else will need a larger tank. Think 150-180g

I'm in a similar position as you with an 80 gallon. I've been considering a yellow eye kole tang, Tomini tang, or Scopas.

I did keep a Scopas for 5 years in my old 75 gallon. Although he seemed content I'm sure he would have appreciated a larger tank.

it's not my preference to keep any tangs in a 75. this was a lesson hard learned for me, but i would say absolutely avoid things like yellow tangs.

i made an ill advised purchase of a yellow tang when i was starting out, put him in my 75. he killed my yellow eye kole tang after a few months of living together peacefully.

after moving to the new tank (a 150 oceanic) there has been a remarkable change in his behavior. much less posturing, much less aggression, and acting much less stressed in general.

it would be my preference to get him in to an even larger tank, but that will likely have to wait a few more years until we move in to a larger house.

I'm looking into getting a tang in my 75 and my opinion so far is to just get one. Obviously, some tangs grow larger than others so you can't put just any tang in there, but one appropriately selected tang should be fine.
