just wondering in peoples opinions what tangs if any would be suitable in a 4 by 2 by1 high tank
i noticed in the volcano thread he has three or four. im only interested in 1.

One would be fine. Stick to a small species, and don't crowd it. It will do better if it's not stresses by a bunch of other fish

at my local fish store the owner has a sailfin tang in his frag look down tank. his is about 6'x4'x1' though

the reason i ask is people have issues with having tangs in 2 foot cubes which in reality is a 4 by 2 by 1 folded in half, as they have the same water volume but there would be twice as much length to it which i believe would be better for its swimming habits

With tangs, length is the operative dimension. Longer is always better given the same water volume.

heres a pic of my tennenti tang thats in my 75gal..had him about 3 months now and hes the only fish in the tank

Most of the bristletooth (Ctenochaetus) tangs should work. The Kole tang should be fine and I would think that a Cheveron would also be fine. Also the blue eyed tang is a nice looker.

Try a Tomini Tang its also a bristle tooth tang.

Most tangs need swim room, and some may even develop digestive problems if that is not accomidated.
Most don't recommend a tang in less than a 5' stretch, 4' is really tight, and 1' high, that's a shallow tank, I'm not sure I'd even put a tominni in there.
If it's for algae control, a lawnmower blenny may be a better call.

+1 for a tomini in this size tank.

That is an awesome tenetti! I just lost mine after raising him from a wee pup for over two years. The stress of a tank upgrade took him down in just a few days. Great fish!!!

point taken, not for algae control as the tank is not yet running just getting opinions for the time being
