Tangs

I have a 120G and just recently added a 3" Powder Blue tang, he's doing awesome. I've read they are semi aggressive fish, I'm just curious, would he be aggressive towards a hippo tang, or a convict tang?

Anyone with one please chime in?

Don't have one but from what I heard they are normally aggressive. Is the Hippo and the Convict already in the tank?

Your tank is too small for a powder blue. It will be extremely aggressive to a convict tang unless it is in an extremely LARGE aquarium because they have similar body shapes and are in the same genus. A blue tang(assuming you are talking about a hepatus, which is Dory from nemo) will get way too big for your tank. The atlantic blue tang will also get way too big for your tank.

I don't plan on having more than 2. The hippo's I want are around 2", so there quite a bit of room to grow.

Also, I don't feed heavy. I find it takes a lot longer for my fish to grow and mature that way.

So you are going to feed it less so you can delay it outgrowing your tank? Sounds like a great idea to me.

Instead of having two tangs that are skinny, hungry, and irritated because they are hungry, and fighting for what algae or food that may be available, wouldn't you rather have just one specimen that is as healthy and beautiful, and happy as it could be?
As it is you are already pushing the limits on that particular tang in that size tank.

What he said.

Are we in "The Bizarro" world? This is the exact opposite of everything I strive for in our hobby. Don't worry about the PBT's aggression; he's probably too weak to attack anything anyhow.
If SW fish aren't being fed enough to grow at a normal rate, they can't be getting proper nutrition and I'd bet the farm that their life-span is much shorter as well.
