Beside yellow tangs, what tang would you recommend for someone that is reef safe, hardy and attractice

+1 this will dictate which tang you can keep, the bigger the tank is the better

I like a kole tang, but as others have said, tank size is key. Smaller than 75 gallon and I would avoid any of them.

All tangs are very attractive and to my knowledge, reef safe. So just get one appropraite size for your tank.

I had a powder blue when I first got into it and it was doing great and awesome looking, then out of the blue, no pun intended, it just died no signs of any illness. So I am looking for something a tang that might be a little more hardy

for that size tank I'd look at any of the Ctenochaetus genus (such as the Kole tang), zebrasoma (I like a sailfin, but they're probably a bit large for a 120), or possibly a mimic tang (acanthurus pyroferus).

IMO purple tang. Attractive, reef safe, and extremely hardy, probably the most hardy.
