Tank being shutdown

Ahhhh man Randalls Goby and Randalls Goby Shrimp?!??!! I want I WANT! We're setting up an 8g BC for my mom at work up in VA and I am looking for a set for her tank. Too bad I'm too late. Whoever got em if you want to get rid of them let me know :P I'll toss in a few extra bucks!

sorry to buy them out from under your feet, but I do remember wanting that hippo for my tank and you got it first. Funny how it worked out that way for both of us.

If you ask Chris at the CR he might be willing to special order them for you. They ALWAYS pair up, those two, regardless of whether they were paired in the wild, IME. That's my favorite goby/shrimp pair by a long shot!

imsqueak,

Yeah it is funny how that works out... hopefully that pair does well for you, I'll just have to keep my eyes open for another pair that comes by or have CR order some up for me.

Hippo is doing well although it must be a little stressed because there are are a few little white specks here and there (gotta be ich) so am trying to figure out what I'll do (quarantine can be very stressful on tangs :/) because I'm not going to treat the tank with copper that would be just silly for corals and other fish!

Thanks, Don, for picking up the tank. Hope you enjoy your new toy and the shrimp and goby "pop up".

Thanks, Geoff, for returning my PPE frag to me. Glad you got a polyp too. Don got a few as well...

Shrimp miraculously made it thru the FW dip. Then it went straight into the tank (I had no choice). It seemed dead but came back in to life in half an hour. Goby didn't come out of the rocks till the "reef dip", it didn't make it. Haven't seen the Randals goby since I put the rock in. I hope I didn't place a rock on him. Lots of stringy slime in the tank. Nothin is open. Both to be expected.

Thanks Dave

I know I only have a couple years experiance but...you fw dipped a shrimp and put a goby in a reef dip??? were they down in a rock or something???

Yep, they hid in the rock and Don wanted to dip the rocks with zoas on them. We tried to find them in the rock before he left the house 'cause I knew they were both still in there but had no success. Too bad, that Eviota goby was quite hard to come by.

UPDATE

Dave, I think everything revived. I lost 3 out 4 PPEs. They didn't die, they were flapping in the current and I should have glued them down but one day all but one were gone. I'm hoping they found a spot that I cant see and next time I rearrange the rocks I find 8 growing on a rock.

I got new hinges, that helps SO much. I got new lights also, more or less the same as it had but I have an extra bulb to add more white if I want to.

I turn the lights and fans on and off at the same time (6pm to 6am on). The tank actually runs cooler with the lights and fans on than everything off (but high is still under 80*) I turn off the fan because of the amount of evap. You weren't exaggerating when you said you add about a gallon of top off per day! I'm still adding about that much!

One thing I don't like is the constraints that nanos have without chiller or sump abilities, and no skimmer with this tank vs a crappy skimmer w/ my RSM. I guess that just means I need to get into a better routine for water changes.

Did the Lord of the Ring palys make it? Angela gave me those, and I really liked them. I'm sure it will take awhile for the colors to recover, but you should have some nice zoas in there once they do. With that big fan blowing over the water, esp. in the winter, the evap rate is high. No skimmer was never a detriment to me, but I did do weekly 7 gallon water changes.

Dave

I cant ID a lord of ring from an Armageddon without looking them up, but I think the LOR are sitting front and center as my fav zoos - green, pink, purple, white mouth...

I have to clean my tanks and take some pics with a tripod. Lately, my Cannon A710 has not been taking focused shots. Hopefully I just have to clean the lense.
