Tank cloudy after tank swap

My water is cloudy, kinda like algae cloudy lookin. It MIGHT be aragonite, but im not sure about that. params takin at night...

also my skimmer hasnt been producing any skimmate yet.

geesh i hate tank swaps ....any ideas or experiences? i think the cloudyness has happened to me before

cloudiness is normal i think. every tank swap i've done, and i've done a number of them, has resulted in a cloudy tank for a day. run a filter sock, and you should be all set. if cloudiness persists, i would check water params.

With all that SPS I'd be sure to have some fresh carbon going as well as plenty of water for a water change. They'll surely be a little ticked off and emitting plenty of allelopathic toxins into the water collumn. Not sure that would contribute to the cloudiness. That's more than likely due to the aragonite and other gunk off of the LR. A filter bag also helps, no sure if you run them or not??

Stay on top of it, and be prepared. Have RO and fresh Salt water ready to go for the next week or two.

Is it new? Perhaps tonight as the tank settles, you'll see its production kick up.

Glad to hear it cleared up. I'm getting ready to do my first tank swap coming up in the next two weeks. I've got a threat on it. I'm a little scared to disturb the colony but i'm glad to hear things continue to grow. Did you use all new sand and seed the new with a few cups of the old??

nah just swap as much original water about 50% of it, and all ur rock, a cup of sand wouldnt HURT, but its not necessary

Cloudiness, if it was a bacterial bloom possibly from stirring something up, often leaves crystal clear water behind when it abates.
