ok well I live in So Cal and I went back east to see my family in New York. I left my reef with my neighbor for the week with directions to add water when neccesairy and feed my fish which at that point included only a yellow watchman goby. My other tank inhabitants included some hermit crabs some GSPs some blastos a small torch coral and some palys. I told her that she diddnt have to do do any water changes because I was only gone for 9 days and I did a water change right before I left. Well We have an outside geust house and while we were away we had some of our friends stay their because They wanted to get away for the holidays. well yesterday I got a call saying they heard a relly loud noise coming from the house. I told one of my friends to check it out because i new it had to be the tank.Well my neighbor dissregarded my instructions which were tyed down on a peice of paper and unmissable and the powerhead and the HOB skimmer had been exposed and well they were makeing a loud noise all the filtration and motion it the water was cut and the water leval was crasy salt was off the charts and as far as I know everything is dead acccept the goby. My friend refilled the tank and used a turky baster to remove the algae but I am guessing it wont be pretty when I get home I cant get home untill the 4th but from pictures my friend sent me it isnt pretty he livesfar away but this summer when I leave for work I am going to drive the tank over to his house.
I also decided before I left I would set up a sump so I asked my mom for an neheim 100 pump and a nano overflow box for xmas. (I am only 13) and so I got them. I have included my sump design so you can coment. I moght have to recycle so I might just drain the tank and drill itbut I really home something survived.
