i feel like crap, guess i added the corals too soon(been cycling for 3 weeks) to my new 6 gal nano. micro's are a complete loss, acan is sliming, hammerhead is on the way out. what a way to start the day... anyone mind taking in my acan and hammerhead while my tank stabilizes?

where are you? my tank is running good now and my acan and hammers are kicking ars

***edit***

IIRC you are in pasadina, tha is an hour from anaheim, sorry can't do it

good luck

6 gallon micro?

like 556 said, water change and amquel.

Heck, you could change 4-5 gallons a day, every day, indefinately, until the cycle settles down. Just make the batch for tomorrow, today, and heat and aerate it in a bucket overnight so you can drop it in tomorrow.

my friend didn't want to hold them for me anymore, and i didn't really have anywhere else to put them. bleh.

sorry, i did not check back, i was home till 3:00, if you do lunch in oc tomarrow, I am more than willing to hold them for you for a few months.. just a warning, they will be a lot bigger when you pick them up. stuf grows like mad in my tank

I'll pm you my #

I find it hard to believe that somebody would try to keep corals in a 6 gal tank, let alone somebody with 4 months under their belt....What makes it worse is you guys are supporting it.

:sad1:

you see it all the time...

when you walk into lfs', a lot of them have nano's set up with brightly colored sofites and lps...definitely tempting!!!

perceived lower cost (small tank purchase, a little bit of live rock, a very small inadequate skimmer (if they even make one for a tank that small to effectively work)...voila, instant reef tank...

only, they dont tell you that the smaller the tank...the exponentially increase in work it takes to maintain that micro biotope.

unless it is one of these:

BeeBoo, I'm not getting on you, you've just been given some bad advice. I'm getting on the people that are supporting you.

there is a guy over at NR trying to built a 600ml pico tank, I go through 7 times that much kalkwasser a day. anyways, I called it "2 fish 1 cup" LMFAO

golfish,

I agree that sps is pretty much near impossible,

but I can't see why certain softies and lps couldn't work in a small nano aquarium.

In my experience, the upkeep of a nano that houses nice corals is equivalent to that of a big tank. So, a lot of new reefers start out with small aquariums believing that it'd cost less to maintain it, but unfortunately ... that's usually not the case in the end.

Some pro hobbyist I know does. And he just so happens to have the hottest LFS in the OC! ;)
