Tank crashed - now what?

Pretty sure it was Brooklynella hostilis. I've been keeping SW tanks since the mid 1980s, dealt with ick a number of times. Run a QT but this got past and into my DT. Best guess is I also have Brook in my newer reef tank, that has some mini lemon peel cromis. I moved some wet inverts from the reef to this FOWLR. I quess the moral of the story is don't trust any tank - not even your own.

This was something very evil that crashed the entire tank in less than a week from when it was first noticed.

Nice stable tank of 14 years with some fish 10+ year old. I stopped adding fish to it 2 years ago as I hit max capacity and some of the sturgonfish were just huge. Did not want to upset the balance.

It's a 90 FOWLR, all the inverts, crabs, snails etc are just fine. All fish are dead or out. I do run UV on this tank.

Not 100% sure this was brook but it was some form of parasite - the question is What's the longest living one and how long to wait before adding fish again?

Sorry to hear this - I know how you feel as I have lost several tanks in my time. :(

To answer your question... Ich is probably the longest living parasite, and you would need to go fallow for 72 days to achieve close to 100% chance of eradication.
