tank crashing anyone awake and can call me a few?

doing water changes as fast as i can make it, thanks for the calls. hopefully whats left survives. amn is 0-.25 nitates 0 nitrites 0 salinty is 26 I woke up to some cloudy water today, noticed a fish was missing, come home and tank just wasnt looking right. maybe chem warfare with corals I am lost

I doubt that phyto is the cause. How much did you add? How big is the tank? Maybe something spawned in the tank. Did you do anything different, other than the phyto? Any additives?

hows everything going? make sure nothing fell in to the tank.

someone i knew dropped a tiny screwdriver into his tank accidentally and didn't know until things started dying off

45 gallon. I pulled most my rock out and put in my sump. Put my skimmer in a big bucket with a little rock and my only fish left a clown. Cb just kicked off but he hasn't eaten for over a week since I got him been hiding. My tank did a 8 gallon change and have my sump hooked up to that and corals left in tank they should be ok I think over time? My specps are 45 with a mag 9 koralia 1 and another power head for siphon for overflow. All is zero. Amn is between 0 and .25 salinity is .26 only fish were
A cb corris wrasse bw and Picasso clown now ijust pic clown corris is buried in sand somewhere hiding guess see what tomorrow well later today brings.

if that fish died then that could be the cause of your cloudy water. The worst part about fish dieing is that they typically wedge themselves in a rock somewhere and you almost never find them. Its one of the best arguments for a food cleanup crew as they will take care of any dead creatures in no time. Its not the best for your fish but fish can survive that situation a lot better than corals and inverts so cross fingers that everything is taken care of.

Jeff- is there anyone local with a carbon reactor you can borrow? If you can borrow a carbon reactor off of an established tank it will help out b/c the good bacteria that convert ammonia to nitrite will populate the carbon granules. This will help to bring that ammonia back down to zero. Even better if you can get another reactor full of fresh carbon to throw on the tank as well....

I've got used carbon that's been running on my system and a couple reactors you can borrow if you can't find any closer to ya.

Has anything changed recently? We had my brothers tank cloud up out of nowhere once because he had a party and there were people smoking inside the house.

Did you do any cleaning in that room with strong chemicals? I've seen people spray windex onto their tanks to clean the glass, which to me is a huge no-no, I also spray a little on the paper towel in the other room, then wipe the glass.....

Can you post any more information about the tank? Maybe pics? (though I guess that wouldn't really help if everything has been removed) What kind of test kits are you using? I saw that it was set up on the 15th of May which makes it a pretty new tank.

Does it look like this? <a href="http://s15.photobucket.com/albums/a398/shift_9k/?action=view&current=dirtytank2.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a398/shift_9k/dirtytank2.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

yep looked like that. I pulled most of all my rock out and put it in my sump. just picked up some carbon and have that in my overflow on the tank so all water has to hit it before it goes in the sump. my amn tested at roughly a .23and my phosphates turned up a bit aswell. so running the carbon now and have it clear it up then just 5 gallon water changes every day for week and I think I might be in the clear just down two fish. the CB I wasnt sure if it would make it to begin with he never ate since I got him and always hid. my B/W i was shocked because it was tank bred and was swimming and eating great.

Hey hans Pm me your number.
