Tank crashing

If you can share a photo of the tank with your equipment and corals.

Im still on the path of the tank not having enough bacteria or time to mature.

I think in 3 years you will have enough bacteria, perhaps not the perfect ratios and some missing types but just by introducing frag plugs from mature tank is you are going to get bacteria cultures.

There's not enough information in this thread to come to a conclusion..... but hey, as reefers we'll try anything if it sounds logical to most.

Continue to monitor your tank's progress and be mindful that it changes overnight without any explanations. With that being said, mature of an aquarium has more than the amount of time of the set up... (maintenance, feedings, as well as temperature changes).

Years ago we bought colony from the ocean which is big and contain lots of bacteria now a day u buy 1/2" frag lol.

Most of my Sps frags are dead, couple snails, and most recently my yellow tang died.... nothing has changed in my tanks for months. However I did realize that I accidentally left my flush valve open on my RO/DI system open. Could that be what's causing my tank to crash??

I don't know where you are located but we have several mystery bleaching events in costal cities offer the last few months. Capable reefers and established~ish tanks and we are at a loss. We think it's related to a water contaminant that is getting past RO/DI filters

A few years back in the SFV we had the same issues locally and finally came to the conclusion LADWP started upping their CHLORAMINES. We purchased Chloramine Blockers for our RODI and things got better. In addition, I stopped doing water changes for about a year and things couldn't have looked better. Just my 2 cents.

I had a similar issue about 2 months ago with SPS in an established tank (3 years) randomly STN. I threw a handful of sodium thiosulfate into my tanks and started to add a few grams of it to my RODI when making new salt water. Since then, the problem has stopped. Many, if not most water systems in SoCal use chloramines and these are not completely removed by all carbon filters. Sodium thiosulfate is cheap and benign. You can get at pool supply stores or on Amazon.

When you threw in the sodium thiosulfate, did your skimmer go nuts? Back when I was a newb and used tap water + water conditoner, my skimmer wouldnt stop foaming.

Ok so I got something for you guys, my new tank is a nano 34g and its about 2months old and I was holding some sps for a friend and most survived and where doing ok. So is it really necessary to wait ? Started with all new dry rock.

Survive for how long? Only a few months then its too soon to say. Sps dont die over night unless bacteria infection.

If you keep the big 3, (alk, nitrate and phosphate) stable. Why not? Once a tank is cycled, you can kee anything as long as you the 3 in check.

Yea right, I believe so too. I even added corals to my tank when I still had very slight nitrites.
