OMG!!! thats horrible! glad no one was hurt! my kids are always around my tank!
that is definitely a manufactures defect. the whole front panel separated and fell. If it was cracked or something they can claim something hit it and that its your fault, but the entire panel separating like that is crazy and should be covered and can be a huge liability.

Man I am sorry for your loss. Make sure you post this on Socalreefs. Everyone should know about this.

Some of the adhesives go off in less than 8 minutes .... Somebody gets complacent, dillies or dallies before setting big panels and bad things can happen.. Not saying it happened here. We need the shop floor CCTV feed on day tank was built. Wonder how QC works at tank building companies? Would be curious to see engineering spec on this particular tank ..... So many questions....

I'm sorry for your loss OP. First, I would rename the title of this thread, so that if anyone is going through Google for a search, your disaster is sure to pop up. I will tell you this, when I am on the market again, I will shop anywhere but Cadlights, which I had actually looked in to prior. I understand that going through a tragedy like this must be overwhelming, but a GREAT company, not a good one, but a GREAT company would have shown concern, compassion, and some form of recompense.

Others say that a replacement should have been in order, but after going through something like that, I doubt I'd be willing to set it up after the major loss.

I will spread the word as much as I can for you bud.

Thanks for all the support I really appreciate it. Sorry for not replying sooner but I have been busy helping out at the show. I will go through the replies again and will try to answer some of your questions.

Everyone should walk by their booth and say "do the right thing"

Wow!! That is horrible and every hobbyist nightmare.

Being a former LFS employee, this company has had a bad rep for us. At one point we had over 50% if not more defected tanks that were returned. We stopped carrying their products and I've always steered everyone away from the their tanks. Seeing this confirms it all.

I'm sorry you had to experience this, and wish you luck through it all.

Wow I'd be lighting up the forums and getting a lawyer ASAP!

Given the time frame the company has had to at least try to work with you let's all agree they are all horrible human beings and don't deserve anyone's business if this is how they stand behind their products...

If it were me I'd consider flying out and facing the @ssholes face to face and see what they have to say then (I'd need someone to go with me so I didn't end up in jail for assault though).

I went by the booth and one of the tank "models" said, I know you... so, I said what's up with the tank that blew out that you guys won't do anything about??? She said what are you talking about? Then I was thinking, oops, maybe it wasn't cadlights, so, I said never mind, "I'm going to make sure it was you guys and I'll get back to you." It was really awkward. But, I planted the seed. I talked to another vendor and they said, 'Oh yeah' we never buy from them. I got caught up in the show and had to leave so, someone can pick up my slack?

Jeeez.... word got out fast. The booth was empty throughout the day. I wonder if the people working in there knew why....

A kid working in the booth pulled me in asking where I had bought my soda and chips. I told him outside at the food truck and said he should go now while the booth was empty. He asked if I've heard of cad lights and I said... Ooo...Yah.... who hasn't...

So sorry to see this happen. I had this happen with a 24g and it was traumatic enough. I couldn't imagine it happening with a giant tank like that.
