I would recommend the Fluval E-Series 300w and backed up by the ink-bird temp
Controller.
The new fluval E Series is a digital heater unlike the Jager which has stuck
With the old Contact points which is known to fail. This problem can be overcome with the addition of a digital temperature controller. Digital heaters can fail as well, but it appears less
Fluval has moved us forward in heat control by:
- in the appropriate size tank, keeps temp variance of .5 degree max. Only the cobalt exceeded this important factor, the Jager comes last at 3 degree variance.
- shows target and current temp at all times
- colours it's temp in blue, green, red (too cold, on target, too hot)
- shuts down automatically when temp rises more than 3 degrees from target
-shuts down automatically when removed
- comes in plastic, easy to remove cage to protect inhabitants
- low flow warning.
About the same price as the others except cobalt which has a variance of 0-.1 degree!! Wow!
In Canada, 300 watt heaters run about 45-70 dollars except for the cobalt which is double
With the new fluval, I really think I got a great heater, so for 65 bucks Canadian ( likely 40-45 bucks US) comes with a lot of info.
Gone are the days of just on and off
