My tank is dying. I need to hire someone to maintain it for me. My schedule is so hectic that I just don't have the time to fit it in. Is anyone interested and what would be a fair price.

Also, where do we get R/O water in Jackson now? I can't find Craig to get it from him....

Thanks bunches....

The Reef Down Under closed. Other than going to Lexington you can either get it from Wal-Mart or buy an RO unit. What size tank? What is the problem? I dont know that anyone would want to start a maintenance contract but Im sure you could get some advice / help if you gave more details.

i got an ro/di unit from one of the sponsers here on rc. it's so much nicer to be able to have water out in the garage and it's paied for itself in the last 9 months or so i'm sure.

i'd cvolunteer to help out your tank but with work and nursing school i can barely keep mine up.

try calling gene's wrecker service, ask how to get in touch with craig, his wife works out there.

I feel really guilty. I got Joe and Dawn Mooney into this hobby, set up their tanks, was maintaining their tanks for a while, and then Life happened and I left town (abandoning them). Now they are stuck with no help. If anyone could help, I would really appreciate it. I know you will love Dawn...she is such a nice woman.

Dawn, I hope someone steps up to help you out. I miss you and Joe and the girls (tell them I said "Hi").

Best of luck. I will stop by for a visit when I come to Jackson sometime.

Hi Dawn, I live in Jackson. I also have a busy schedule but will be glad to help you in any way that I can. Craig is still servicing tanks. Chip was helping him. They live in Lexington. His last name is Latham. You might can look in the phone book. There is also a man named Joe he goes to people's homes and does that. He done some plumbing on my big freshwater and he is servicing some tanks for my patients but he is high. A 30 minute trip may cost 100.00. I can get his number for you if you want. He was always very nice. Doris

Richard, there is no reason for you to feel guilty. My husband got us into this hobby, you were just wonderful to help us get set up. We all miss you and hope that you are doing well. Please stop and say hello to us next time you are in town. We have to pool open if you would like to come swimming.
My tank died some time ago and I was ready to retire his tank, when Craig said that he would maintain it for me. I know things were hectic in his life and he probably hasn't had time for me, so I haven't wanted to bother him. (plus all I had was the Reef number, not his home) (Thanks for the suggestion to call Gene’s Wrecker (joeycadre), I might do that)
Craig convinced me to move my husband's tank into my office and keep it going, and as much as I would like it to live, I just don't seem to have the proper capabilities and talents to do so.... (should have known better, since I can kill a silk fern)
I appreciate the kind words and offers of help from all of you, but I just really don't think that I can do the maintenance on the system, even with help. I have tried to read the test results and with my eyesight, am useless at that too. I do manage to empty the filter and put the a/b solutions on a regular basis, but the tank needs more than that.
I can’t give any more details on what is wrong, except that it is dying. I feel like one of my computer clients that can just tell me that the system is not working, but doesn’t have the skills or knowledge to explain why.
I love the tank and the beauty and peaceful feeling that it gives me, but I hate to think that I am killing the beautiful creatures in the system. My work schedule is running 14-16 hours per day and higher sometimes. It is a poor excuse, but time just isn’t available for me to learn how to maintain or to take the time to maintain.
Thanks for the kind responses and if anyone knows anyone that would be interested in maintaining my tank, that isn’t cost prohibited, I would greatly appreciate the information.

Dawn, a girlfriend of mine was in gene's tire place getting some tires yesterday and Craig was in there working. I know that you are busy, we are all but if you dont want to tear this tank down due to everything dying. I would suggest that you call him or go down there and talk to him. Craig was always very nice and willing to help me in any way that he could. Saltwater tanks are not like freshwater they are unforgiving, there is not much makeup time. I would try and save what I could before it is too late or else start selling stuff on the reef site to try and save it.
