Tank in waiting room

Hey All,
I am planning to donate a 55 gallon tank and set it up for the hospital I work in, for it to be placed in their waiting room. So first off I ask, for a reef tank do I need a sump, refugeeum or can I get away with a canister filter and LR or maybe a hob ref? Only reason I ask is because there is no plumbing in there so I want to have a system that does not evaporate much h2o. Question 2, I have regular compact florescent lights. Is there a bulb I can buy that is powerful enough to go deep enough and support soft corals? And question 3, is there anyone that has anything they want to donate to a good cause? I would probably make a plaque with our groups name on it. I would even take pics and post them. If donating is too difficult, would you sell at a cheap price. What I have is the tank, stand, some LR, and sand. I would need powerheads, some LR, possibly a better lighting system if cheap enough, some type of filter(canister, hob or otherwise), possibly a protein skimmer(if cheap). Well I know this is a huge request and feel free to tell me to go to he%$ if you feel so inclined, but I thought I would ask. Tank dimentions are 4' by 1' by 20.5 high. Thanks in advance.
Bill
P.S. I will be posting this in all wisconsin forums.

have you considered fish only or a freshwater?
a 55 reef that will be on display 24/7 will be very challengeing
GOOD LUCK!

Why would it be on display 24/7, do you mean the lights would be on 24/7? I don't understand how it would be difficult, but thanks for the well wishes. As for the fish only. I might have something like that, and just have mushrooms or green stars, something easy to maintain.

i just meant that people would be able to view the tank all the time, I guess i assumed your hospitol doesnt close at night

A very neat idea. I assume you volunteered to maintain the tank and purchase the supplements needed going forward? Salt, etc. As we all know they are very demanding of time and $$$.

I agree, the outcome will be very relaxing for the patients waiting though.

Yes, you are correct, this will be maintained and funded by me. That is why I was looking for some donations and why I am trying to make it as self sufficient as possible.

The only problem I see, is when people are cleaning around the tank. There should be some type of cover that would keep children from dropping things into the tank. Like those pretty copper pennies, crackers, you get the idea.

Good suggestion. Thanks for the input, maybe a sign will help. I was planning on having a glass cover in the front and open in the back.
