Tank level problem

I'm in the process of setting up a 75 mixed reef with a overflow (Aqueon tank). I bought a stand from a LFS here in town a few years ago. The problem I am having is that the stand is not level. There is about a 1/4 inch difference. I have read before about using shims under the stand to try to level the tanks out. But it don't seem to work. I was just wondering if anyone else has any ideas about what to do, buy a new stand (which I was hoping not to due to budget) or would you just leave it. I do have shims under the right side of the tank now.

Thanks

Where do you see it not being level now? As long as the bubble is in-between the lines on the level, it is level.

Not sure I understand your issue. Why shims are not working? It's close to impossible to find really flat surface for the tank installation and shims are the way to go to level the stand. Be sure that floor can support the weight of the tank (with water) without sagging and check that your stand is not warped. My guess you need help from some one who knows how to shim right (it could be tricky if you have hardwood flooring etc).

I agree..that's pretty dang level...as long as the shims didn't create any gaps and the rest of the stand is supported by the floor..you're good to go.

I messured the water line in the take with a tape measure. and there was a 1/4 inch difference between the left and right side of the tank.

Are you sure the trim is straight and level on the tank? I would start by putting the level on your stand and see if the stand itself is level first.

It is hard to tell from your pictures what is going on, except that the level is on a flat surface. It is possible that if you are using a short level such as a torpedo level you are not getting an accurate enough measurement. How long is the tank? Use a 4ft carpenters level to measure the long side of the tank for level.

It sounds like the waterline is off after you fill so it is possible that the floor/stand is bowing or sagging under load, which would explain the discrepancy.

^ +1....Had a 75 gallon and leveled with a short leveler and it said it was level. Checked with a 4ft leveler and it was off. What I did was level it empty, then fill tank half way and level again. Wait a day and fill all the way and check it again.

that looks pretty level to me from 3 pics i saw. i wouldnt worry about 100% perfect level ur nearly 99.99% there and good to go.
