Tank Location

As I begin to plan out my new tank, I want to ensure it will be ok in the location I want. I have done a quick photoshop job on the attached photo to show where the tank will be in relation to our sliding rear door. Keep in mind that we can keep the blinds closed as needed and the door faces south.

Thank you in advance for you opinion.

I should also point out that the blinds are open on the door and the picture was taken on a sunny day. It doesn't get much brighter than shown.

I think as long as you can minimize direct sunlight that aspect should be fine. Other things to consider. Some fish are pretty skiddish and even more so in a high traffic area. I don't know your location but if your in a cold weather climate you may want to consider the sliders proximity to the tank. Good luck

I live around the Dallas area. The blinds are built in to the door, so the fish shouldn't see any real movement. We also only have them open on weekends. Otherwise they stay closed.

For what it's worth, I have a similar situation, where I installed a peninsula perpendicular to a slider, about a foot or so away. I'm in the sunshine state, so as others have said, we just keep that side of the slider draped/blinded off for the most part. I haven't had any algae issues thus far, and it's been a little over a year.

On a lighter note, make sure your tank is firmly fixed on the floor, unlike the one in your picture!!! It would take an engineering miracle to accomplish your Photoshop design.

One other note, if you are on a raised foundation I prefer my tank spanning across joists rather than running in same direction, of course if you are on slab it doesn't matter.
Mine is by a sunny window as well, but I block w/ a screen divider.

I have a slab foundation, so I'm good there.

So I guess this raises a question. Are the blinds in the door sufficient, or would I need an additional curtain? Keep in mind that the door faces south, so there is never direct sunlight.

You would know if you start to notice film algae on that side of tank accumulate faster.
I don't think anyone can tell you whether or not that will happen just based on your pic or description.
If so add a divider or tint/film door glass
