Tank Meltdown :(

I hear the insecticide theory. However, Bayer insecticide is fast becoming a popular acro dip, so not all insecticides are instantly toxic.

My condolences. It sure does sound like an acute contamination / poisoning event. And to not be sure of the cause must be very frustrating.

Sorry for the loss, thats horrible, and not even $$ wise.

Just to raise more questions, if it was a power outage and low oxygen, I am surprised an invert didnt die. Who needs oxygen more, a coral or an invert? I dunno, just asking.

Sorry to hear about the whole situation - very frustrating. You mentioned in the original post that you had lost about half your corals at that point. Has the dieoff continued since, or has the situation stabilized? If there are any survivors, are they showing signs of stress; and is there any trend whatsoever behind what has survived?

Do you have a current PO4 reading?

I still think you probably had a power-outage that occurred while you were asleep, and the power had already been restored by the time you woke back up. It makes me awfully suspicious since you had already suffered a 15min power-outage that evening due to bad weather.

This isn't a possibility because overnight there wasn't a drop of rain...not to mention I didn't have to reset any of my clocks so i know the power stayed steady.

I was thinking along this line. I remember a post of a guy who's wife had used insectiscide and wiped her hands on one of his fish towels when she came in the house. He was playing around in his tank wiping his hands with the same towel....everything was dead or dying within hours.

I would suspect some type of contamination.

I don't think it was this because this room is locked down...it's in a no traffic area...other end of the house...its kind of secluded

Inverts and fish were unharmed....just the coral were victims

Well, there you go. Its a government conspiricy as they know you are conjuring up some kind of alien coral and had to agent orange the room. I guess there is only one room in the country for an area 51!

Only a few things left. Some kind of chemicls getting in, lack of oxygen/air flow or temp swing...............that I could think of.

Possible bacteria bloom bottoming out O2? Just a thought so many wild guesses here, wish you the best either way. I have been there...
