My schedule is pretty crazy. I'll pitch in if available. Keep me posted and I'll try to make it out. I have a bunch of buckets, pumps, heaters, etc... to help your livestock make the transition.

Mike I'd be willing to pitch in. I have helped tear down and set up a certain 210g reef TWICE :D

I did get some nice carpentry work out of it though.

I might "accidentally" bump your corals but it's ok I'll have plenty of bags in my pockets to catch the pieces

Let me know when details are ironed out. If it's on a weekend where my wife works I will have to find someone to watch the 3 kids for me but it could still happen.

I'd be wary of involving Kevin. He has a high "beer to work" ratio. :D

Well is Mike going to PUKE from the sandbed stench or all the beer?

For those that know me I think it's a matter of where I rest my head afterward.....

I did some more inspections of my new home and discoverd a major deficiency. The 100 amp service panel is full and I need a 220 circuit for my dryer. I already knew the panel was going to require an upgrade at some point before the larger tank is installed. However, I didn't anticipate it being needed before I move in. I guess things will just work out for the better with a large 42 space panel now :) I just hope I can get it done before june gets here.

do you have a place for the peninsula and fish room set up?

The new house has a space for the fish room to include all the needed drains, water supplies and electrical sources. I am currently debating the peinsula style tank. Due to the room layout I may have to do a 3 side viewable just like my current tank. I am planning on the dimensions of 96x36x28 for this January or Febuary. I need time to get the fish room built and designed. I will spend the winter getting it ready.

Good news on the electrical... my 100 amp service will be fine. I just need to install a 30 space panel instead of the current 20 space. Shuuuu.... Converting to 200 amp service was going to cost some bucks.

Wow! That would be hard for me to have the whole house on 100amp service. I ran a sub panel off my main 200amp panel with 2- 20amp circuits just for the fishroom. With the kinds of equipment you like to buy (thinking of that skimmer) I would be worried about running it all. If you have an electric range, electric furnace and electric dryer you would be on the verge of maxing out your system.

I am not a professional electrician and I am not trying to scare you or anything but you may want to have someone give you a second opinion after making a list of the wattage or amperage of all your electrical items.

Just as an example, if you run 4x 250w MH for the display that is 1000w/ 110v = 9.09amps. Your frag tank had one or two 250w MH which is another 2.5- 5 amps. Heaters for a 600g water volume would possibly be 1000-2000w total which is almost maxing out another circuit.

In homes that are not very new (around 15 yrs or more) most circuits would be 15amps and that will limit how much you can put on each line also.

Hope I am not going on about things you already know.

Hey Kevin,

Yeah, you are going on about things I was already aware of. The key factor is that all the major amp drawing items should not be on at the same time for a long period. We calculated the load on the house with the tank equipment. We came up with 87 amps as a full operational number of everything in the house. That leaves me a 13 amp buffer. Believe me, if I didn't have to tear up the yard and foot the bill for the copper and excavations I would go for the 200 amp service. I have read that people do install 200 amp services on #2 aluminum conductors. However, the electrician suggest that I not to do that. The way the numbers are adding up for larger tank and sticker shock of crap furniture. I may have rethink my tank size any way. I asked someone on the large tank boards about a tank in the size I am considering and it was in the 4K range. I was thinking more in the 3K range. We will see what the future holds.

Umm OK nevermind

The days are flying by. I have decided to setup stock tanks to hold everything in temporarily. Install my current 180 on the main floor and move everything back into it until next year. I have a close date of June 7 with the potential for June 4. So with that being said. Can everyone that will come out and give me a hand please plan for Saturday, June 9th. If I can't get all the household things in by that day I will have to bump it to Sunday the 10th.
