That Tank of the Month is amazing but I have a question regarding the light output. He has a 180gallon tank and uses 6 MH light that comprise 1725watts of light. That's 9.58 Watts per gallon. Now it's got me thinking. I was always told 3-5 watts per gallon. I have a 90 gallon All-Glass and I thought I was ahead of the curve with 2 250W MH lights. I'm pushing 5.5 watts per gallon. Should I go to two 400watt blubs and change the ballasts? Should I add two more 250W bulbs to give a total of 1000watts. Now that's alot of light.... Is there such thing as too much light? Am I missing something?
