tank pics

Tank looks great. I may have missed the answer to this when we visited but do you supplement anything to your tank? (calcium, kalk, etc...) Your shroons are standing up and your coralline algae growth is awesome.

Obviously I missed this thread, lol. Nice pics. Would you mind if we used a couple of them on the DRC website?

The tank looks great DG! I see the xenia on the snail shell is doing fine. did the other loose pieces settle down and attach too? that red macro looks real healthy too. It makes a nice adition to a tank, cleans the water and adds a nice bright red for contrast. looks great..and not a hard one to control in the tank.

Thanks for the comments. For most of the life of the tank, I have used Tropic Marine Pro Reef Salt and I do a 3 gallon water change every Monday. When I use this salt, my calcium stays nice and high and I don't have to add anything but buffer. When I ran out, I used instant ocean for a couple of months, but I noticed a decrease in coral and halimedia (sp) growth even with added calcium so I'm back to the TM Pro Reef.

I recently had a minor disaster though...At the top of the photo, you can see about 2 inches of dead coraline algae. The red macro algae that I had in my fuge clogged the return and I had a 9 gallon spill over onto my carpet... The fuge pump kept pumping until the water line in the tank went below the pump intake. Needless to say, it was a big mess. Had carpet cleaners come out and now we have to repair the ceiling in the garage. I fortunately did not loose anything and the photo was taken after two days of no lights on the tank (they are hanging from the ceiling and I had to move the tank to pull up the carpet.)

Oh, I also add Dt's oyster eggs and phytofeast about twice a week. My sps's and softies do pretty well, but I don't have much luck with lps corals. Any tips?

Feel free to use any of the pics on the website. Sorry, my camera is not very good....
