Tank raised ocellaris hosting?

I have heard that many times they do not host since they are tank raised, but does anyone have them hosting in anything other than an anemone? Would they be dumb enough to host in a tube anemone?

My son has 2 Nanos in his room and no anenomes in either. He has tank raised percs and the one in his 24g hosts in the hammers, the fogspawns and the torch. He will go into anything that he can hide in. He actually sleeps perched in the hammer.

So yes they will host in something else....

We have a pair of tank raised black percs in our 90 and it has taken months but 1 is finally playing around in our RBTA but spends most of his time perched in our hairy mushrooms

The drive to use something as a host can be very week in CB clown fish. Wild clown fish that don't have a very strong drive to find a host, simply would not survive. This is not a trait that determines life or death in captivity.

I have a CB pair of Ocellaris that wouldn't use a host for well over a year. Granted, they didn't have their natural host. All they had was a couple of LTA's, but a wild pair would have been in the anemones in a short time. It took less than 24 hours for my wild caught GSM's to move into the same anemones.

Yes. Some of them are dumb enough to try using a tube anemone as a host. Many of them become food.

I think it is instinct--they will host if captive bred, but do fine with no anemone as well. Mine liked my sarcophyton.
