Tank Room Question

Okay, I know this isn't the construction "how to" forum, but I have a preference question. We are in the process of building our tank room. Currently, it will be the corner of a large room that has hardwood flooring (which we just laid before deciding to get back into the hobby :eek1: . Our house is on a conventional foundation, not a slab. Here is my question...I am curious what you would do...

1. Rip up the hardwood in the area where the tank room will be and replace with ceramic tile

2. Keep the hardwood and lay something over the top of it

3. Do nothing and leave it the way it is.

If it is real hard wood, you could just put a couple extra coats of polyurethane sealant on it and not worry to much. It would be pretty waterproof that way.

I agree with Kim.

But......

If you can a basement sump room is the way to go,
When you spill water you don't worry about it.

Well, obviously, if we had a basement it would be a no brainer ;), but we don't. We do have enough room where we could install a drain into the floor and get under the house to work on the plumbing...that may be an idea... I hate people with basements...they have it soooo good :fun2:

Yes but to have a basement you have to live in the
freezing cold and put up with 6+ months of winter.

If you plan on makijng it a permanent room
then I'd put in a floor drain and vinyl flooring.
