Tank Shots

Its been a while since I posted some pics, so I figured today was good opportnity to take some new shots of my tank.

No sps or corals for that matter... I've been gearing up slowly to get another reef up and running, but after breaking down my last reef and having to sell off ALL my livestock, I've decided to wait for my living situation to be come more permanent before starting my next reef :)

So here's what I got :D

Still have my two anemones. Both are eating and growing well, but haven't regained any color since I switched them over from my old reef a year ago.

Trade ya my rock for yours!:D

Very nice tank Jim :) The markings on the face of the angel are just amazing.
Thanks for showing the fum'unda shots, Im looking at as many plumbing setups as I can. Got any tips for a nice seal with your bulkheads and the rest of your connections?

First of all, thank you very much Justin! Compliments are very much appreciated

I just used pvc primer & glue on my BH's. If you go threaded, just use some silicone grease and teflon tape :D

Looking good Jim. Are you going to paint the back of the tank? I noticed a world of difference when I did mine.

Thanks Mark!

Actually, for some odd reason, I like the open look the tank now has. For years, I ran a black background. I considered painting it black, and its not off the table. However, for now I'll probably just keep it the same :)

If you don't mind me asking, what type of difference did you notice?

First and foremost, I did not have to scrape or magnet the back of the tank anymore.

Second, the corals contast much nicer. It just makes them "pop".

Third, It hides all of my wires and the over flows don't stand out as much.

very nice set up.....looks like your running two phos reactors, could you explain if both using phos removers? and what kind of pump for running both. thanks.

I think one is carbon and the other is phos.

My question though is where did you get the tubing for the phos reactors and WHERE DID YOU GET the little ball valve?

I have been looking for those for sometime now.

swgig, thanks! Both are for phosphate. I have built a manifold off of my rerturn pump so that it runs both reactors as well. I oversized the return a little to compensate for the reactors and head loss. That way I didn't need to add an extra pump.

I do run carbon, however, I run it in a filter bag, that I place inside my drain filter sock. That way I get raw water flowing through the carbon, and I can clean the bag and swap the carbon out very easily.

Steve, whats up man? :D

The tubing is black vinyl tubing that I ordered from Marine Deopt. You can get my exact BV's at NORMAC. There's one in North Highlands, South Sunrise and Rocklin. They have just about everything. I also saw some at Lowes, but the quality/action on the those were not as smooth as the Spears valves I got at NORMAC.

Cheers,

Jim
