Tank size for one spot fox face?

Hi all, still researching for a tank. I want to keep a one spot foxface and min tank requirement differ at different site 70g-120g.

I have the red sea reefer range in mind, would it work in the 425XL (4' length, 88g+24g) or the 350 (also 4' length, 73g+18g)?

Terrible fish choice in my opinion unless you have a huge tank. They grow really fast, and are jumpy by Nature. In a reef system your hands are in your tank a little more than a fish only. So, very fast ,large fish, that gets easily spooked and is venomous.......no

i had one in my old 120. was fine, lots of personality (swam alot).
Currently looking for one for my 220.
As mentioned above, venomous- always wear those long, up-to-your-elbows gloves

I have one in my 100 and he's my favorite fish , like said lots of personality constantly moving . They are skittish but they tend to stay away from you .

IMO, a 5ft tank would be a better suit for them. They can get big and are known to be a little aggressive themselves when they get big and mature.

I have had one for about a year and a half in my 75g mixed reef (20sump). Defintiely the biggest wuss in the tank. When he gets startled or scared he gets among the rock, tight in and camoflages. Its humorous:jester:

My biggest concern with his spikes is when I am changing out the algae clip. Then he is right there waiting for grub. Did I mention he is also a pig?

Eis the only algae eater in my tank, which may help.

I Have one in my 110g, looks like the one spot but my doesnt have a spot on it. They eat my algea, it helps keep my tank clean of algea.

btw, one spot foxface (Siganus unimaculatus) max out at 7", regular fox face (Siganus vulpinus) max out at 9".

The one I'm interested in is the small one.

while i'm not sure a 75g is too small for a foxface; i will disagree he acts "like that" because he is in too small of a system. mine does the same in a 300g dt and seems very well.

Ive got an adult onespot in my 90 gallon display. I second the comment of the biggest chicken in the tank. I'm personally terrified to put my hands in the water most the time until I see him find a hiding spot and put on his camouflage. They do get spooked real easily, and all their venomous barbs extend and they go flying around the tank like a Tasmanian devil. My hand is out of the water so fast it'll make your head spin when he gets spooked. Otherwise it's a really docile and easy to manage fish. Doesn't start fights, at all, ever, and is never picked on. Just grazes on algae all day and night, and readily wolfs down anything else I offer. They do amazing work at hair and bubble algae and can really help clean up an epidemic. I also second the comment that they're fast growers. Mine went from 2.5" or so, all the way up to a big fat 6-7" in less than 2 years

The 425XL is 4', the 525XL is 5'. I think I will try to squeeze a 5' tank to support the foxface.
