Ok i have a 120 Gallon Tank with a stand. The problem is the stand it came with is not high enough. I have a Trigger Systems Sump and there is not much space from the bottom of the tank to the top of the sump. Plumbing will be very tough especially because i wanted to do PVC. I do think the stand is ugly but its a workable stand. Not sure i want to spend the time and money to build another stand. Question, typically what is the height of your stands? What is the typical height for a 120. 48" x 24" x24".

Space is big.
Mine is 36" and I wish it were just a touch taller, maybe 38" based on whats under it. If I ever upgrade to a bigger tank, it will have a 40" stand.

In a pinch you may be able to add some height by cutting the bottom open and setting it on 2x4's around the perimeter, depending on stand design.

I build a lot of stands, I'd say 30" should be the minimum, 36" is probably my most commonly requested height, and that is what my own stand is.

I look at 40" on a tape measure and it seems almost to tall. And when do you have to start worrying about it being top heavy?
If you have a sump it will not be too top heavy.
Beautiful stand by the way. Ok i'm sold i will build a bigger one. somewhere between 36'-40' tall. I actually have to because my protein skimmer barely fits under the current stand. Is there anyway you can take a picture of the room you have underneath the tank so i can get some sort of idea.

I built mine at 42'',I like to look straight at my tank when standing and also have plenty of room for working in the sump.
