Hello just in process of making a new tank stand and wanted it on castors.

The tand is only 60l itres (approx 16 gallons)water volume after and sand displacement .

The castors are can hold upto 880 lbs. Im also putting another 2 in the middle front to back.

The frame is stand is oversized so i have room under for equipment.

The tank size is
50 cm (length) × 45 cm (width) × 40 cm (height).

Your thoughts

Thanks

I've never seen it done, and there's probably a reason for that, but I can't think of one if they're rated for the weight and you can make sure the tank is level. Vibrations moving it around? Too much weight concentrated on too little an area in the form of the individual castors (ie the strength of the wood itself)?

Are you going to sheet that? A piece of plywood covering the back would add a ton of lateral stability when you are rolling it. Aside from that, just be super careful when moving it around - a top heavy shifting load is a recipe for a flip over/ collapse.

Putting tanks on casters has been debated for as long as there have been forums. It has never been recommended and I would never recommend it. You are adding so many additional boxes to check for safety. Any flaws in your setup including structural integrity of your stand, stability of your floor, build quality of your tank, etc etc etc are magnified.

I can't tell you how to do it because I wouldn't do it.
