Tank tour and changes

Reef Bass

colors and textures
The tank tour went well yesterday. It was terrific to see the six tanks we did and I would like to thank everyone who let the club come by yesterday. It was good to have some of the long time members of the club in attendance (Tom and Chris) as well.

At the meeting afterwards we had a fun raffle and many people ended up drawing their own tickets which was humorous.

We discussed how to make the club better and made some changes starting with the club's name. The term Northcoast wasn't very appropriate so we choose a new name which more accurately reflects our location. We are now the Wine Country Reefers.

We created a new officer position of Treasurer and Bob now controls the purse strings.

While we appreciate James' service as vicepresident, his responsibilities with Caeasars often left him unavailable for club events and so we elected Owen as our new vp.

Now we would like to finalize a logo for our club and have a banner made for use at shows and events like BAYMAC (instead of 8x11 paper printouts).

Dale I know what you mean. Miss one meeting and blam!! What happens.

Hey what about "The Gateway to the Wine Country Reefers"

or "The Egg Basket Reefers", "California's Friendliest Reefers"

"The Reefers Formerly Known as Northcoast"

"Wine Country Reefers Find yourself Here"

JK know matter what we are called I will still stand by it.

NOW WHERE ARE THE TANK TOUR PHOTOS!!

The important lesson here is to not miss a meeting! ;)

"The Reefers Formerly Known As Northcoast" - good one!

Plus, who wants pics of a bunch of human backsides standing in front of a tank that you can't see anyway?

On a serious note, I thought about bringing a camera, even a point and shoot that can shoot RAW so colors could be accurate, but decided against it from hassle and time perspectives.

You're welcome to bring your camera with you on the south county tank tour next month Craig. :) My tank has many beautiful new things in it since you last were here.

I took some pictures of Tom's tank and I will post them later today....no offense to anyone’s tanks they were all good and I should have taken more. But like Ken said all you would see is the back side of 10 guys. Maybe that would be a good calendar for the Wine Country Reefers! Maybe a fundraiser? =)

I did learn a lot and see some things that I need to change and some new products that I need to buy. Also Tom's new tank stand and canopy that he is building got me very motivated to start on mine.

Oooh, I like the calendar idea. With pics from club members' tanks. Could be a fundraising thing or even just something nice to hang on the wall. Or both!

I thought the calendar idea was a good one. Then we can put down events, frag swaps, scheduled group buys from certain companies, door prizes, speakers, tank tours, aquarium visits, meeting topics...of course all subject to change but at least we will have ideas on paper. We could get calendars made for like $10 or less with a big order 50-100, maybe get some company sponsors. This is a good way to get new people in the club and make connections with other clubs and companies. We can hand someone a calendar with our logo on the front, club info listed.....yata yata. It always makes people feel welcome when they come to their first meeting and walk away with something. I'm sure someone has connections with getting calendars made and maybe even sponsored for their advertising. Just depends on how nice we want to make and if everyone wants to do it.

Also the accountant idea was a good one. I don’t know if a librarian chair has been set up in the past but I know there are a lot of reef books/movies/ mags I would like to read/see but don’t wanna buy every single one. I have like 4 beginner books that I can donate to the club….again they are for newbie’s just basic ID and set up. Just an idea. Anyone else have books/ movies/ magazines they don’t want anymore or will donate to the club? I have a miracle mud DVD from the show a few weeks ago too but it is really bias to their product. It is so bias it is kinda funy…you can’t make a reef tank with out miracle mud or it will look horrible. Haha I actually bought some when I started before I got in the club and I found a nail in it!!
