With over 200 members in the club, it is tough finding out who runs a system like yours. So I was thinking, why not have a tank tour.

But I don't want 200 people in my house at the same time!! :)

What's your ideas on how this would work Jeff?

Tour at Jeff's house tonight!!!!!

j/k

I like the idea if its managable. Kinda like that thing they do during New years eve where one house will do hors devors?sp one will do drinks, one will do the main meal and one will do dessert, etc. You could see maybe 5 tanks setups in one afternoon.

When I was part of a club in SoCal we would have annual tank tours (visiting 4-6 tanks) and ending somewhere having a picnic or end at a store for "special pricing" for members.

I think it would be a great idea.

Great idea, but I agree with Annick - how would this be done? I can see some type of signup and/or carpool list.

ctreefer - how can you have Hors d'Oeuvres and drinks at separate locations? These MUST go together!

How many people would be on the tour? Or do you have the hosts stay at their homes and people travel wherever/whenever that day?

Some hosts stayed home while others went on the tour. Basically we would have a start time (say 9:00 am) at one persons house. Since it was the first house, normally we would stay there a little longer to give people time to arrive after getting lost. We then headed to the next house, then the next, etc.. Some would carpool, others drove themselves around following each other. We also handed out travel route maps (mapquest) at the first stop so incase anyone got lost they could find their way around.

Normally we would stay about 30-40 minutes per house and allow 30-40 minutes travel time to each house. We would have anywhere from 20-50 people on the tours.

I would be more than happy to offer my house for the ending spot for a BBQ if this pans out. But then again I am located in the middle of nowhere and that may scare some people off.

Why not?

My thinking is that if 50 people want to go on a tour (and yes there would be a sign-up so we know is going and who is driving), we pick a date and focus on one area of the state. Find 4-6 members in that area that are willing to open up there homes. Split up into 4-5 groups where the 1st group would go to house number 1, then 2, 3, etc. The second group would start at house #2, then go to #3, etc. The 3rd group start at the 3rd house, then go to the 4th, and so on.

I like Keith's idea of meeting up at an area store afterwards.

This would offer folks the opportunity to see what different equipment looks like, different lighting, etc.

That sounds like a great idea. I would offer up my tank, but its only 10 months since the crash so its basically ful of frags.

I am up for touring, and will welcome visits. My tanks are in my office so I can only accommodate a carload at a time (my reason for asking how this is going to work).

My only concern with this is that the people sharing their tanks will not be able to visit the other tanks. Unless of course all the people that are showing do not mind.

We could do shots at each stop and see who makes it to house #4.

And if I am one of the hosts, I get a shot for each group that stops by, or each person visiting? :celeb3:

What a neat idea! We have a house tour at Christmas time in our town run by one of the churches which is very fun -same kind of idea. I will be willing to show my tank if you come down to my area.

I love this idea, but maybe there should be a minimum tank size too. What if i had everyone over and all i have is a 46 bow front? I don't know if anyone would want to drive out to West Hartford for that

I have a bunch of different idea's. Some include setting up Nano only tours, some offer a variety.

This poll is to guage interest in the idea. Based on the fact it has almost 200 hits in the 1st day and there are over 30 people who would like to go on one, I am thinkiong this may actually be a good idea. This is open untill Oct 14th. By then, I will have a better idea of what people think of the idea. In the mean time, I am starting to put together a datasheet/questioneer for folks who are interested in showing off their tank. I hope to have that ready by the time the polling is over.

As this club is a volunteer type of thing, I will welcome a couple of folks who want to help out. Help in reviewing the questioneer before it goes out and then helping decide how best to organize the tours and schedule them.

If you are interested, please send me a PM.

I could use 1 or 2 more people to help with this. I am putting together a survey and I want to bounce it off a couple of people to make sure I am capturing everything. And then later to to see if what I am thinking for tours, makes sense.
