Tank transfer method

Curious if you should use same method for fresh water tanks. My daughter was told at a petco that the transfer method is only for salt water fish and would be to stressful for fresh water fish

Petco doesn’t do any sort of medications let alone TTM. I’m not sure the ich life cycle is the same in freshwater.

Freshwater you can use copper.
I believe ich cycle is the same for both salt and freshwater.
