Tank transfer

Is a 10 gallon tank big enough to do TT with baby angles or baby tangs or do they need to be in a 20 for this process?

I would say that should be fine. I have my purple that 4.5" in a 29 for transfers and he's been doing very well for a few weeks now. 10 gallon tanks are so much easier to work with. I hate cleaning out and dealing with a 29. My small fish are in a 10.

Okay cool thanks for the reply. I was to use 10 gallons for TT and my 29 for my QT. If I put a tang in my 29 QT would I be able to put other fish in there with it or does in need all the space it can get?

They say you shouldn't qt different fish together. That said I do all the time because its less $ in the end. I would say you can qt a few in a 29 together. I've done a couple tangs at different times in a 20g with other fish with no prob. As long a you keep ammonia in check you should be good.

Also I use 32g trash barrels for the ttm. Work well.

Yeah I have a purple tang, tomini tang, and a foxface in the 29 but they were all in my tank that was infected with ich. I wouldn't get 2 different fish from the fish store and put them together as one may be sick and the other might not so you would be infecting the other for no reason. I have 2 black ice clowns, 2 cardinals, a blenny, and a fire fish in a 10 but again they were all in the infected ich tank together. The 32 gallon trash can is a good cheap idea for more volume. They are $10 at Homedepot. Or you can hit petco and just get a 55 for $55 if you want to extend your water change times and give the tang more room.

That is exactly what I used for tank transfer and QT on my fish, and all ended up very well (my fish were MUCH messier than tangs). The fish aren't in the 10g tanks long enough to really be an issue, and using Prime was an easy way to avoid ammonia issues.
